PRF insures against the loss of production of hay or pasture in a designated grid.  Coverage is based on rainfall that the grid receives over a designated time frame and not on an individual farm.  Precipitation is the only peril that is covered on this policy. Coverage levels range from 70-90% with increments of 5%.

There is also a productivity factor election which ranges from 60-150% of the county base value.

Producers must select at least 2, 2 month intervals. RMA uses NOAA data to calculate precipitation.
